Cristina Archer’s profile picture

Welcome! I’m Cristina, an artist from Portugal specializing in oil paintings on canvas. My work explores various themes and styles, and I also enjoy experimenting with different materials.

If you’re looking for a custom-made, one-of-a-kind piece, I’m happy to create it upon request. I love creating art that inspires and forms a personal connection with people – whether through classic oil painting or other creative techniques. You can also purchase my artworks in my Etsy shop.

Bio

Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1967, she moved to Lisbon at the age of two, where she studied and lived. After completing the Circus Expression Course at the Chapitô Circus School in Lisbon, she worked at the Politeama Theater and the National Theater in musicals staged by Filipe La Feria as a dancer and circus artist (“Passa por mim no Rossio” and “Maldita Cocaína”). She also worked in television and event entertainment (bars, fashion shows, street and corporate entertainment, advertising, etc.) with the new circus group “Cesta D’Artes”.

Later, she joined the Circo Soledad Cardinal, touring for three years, and the Circo Holiday in Spain, where she spent a year on tour.

She traveled to England, where she lived for three years, and finally returned to Portugal, this time settling in the village of Canha (Montijo), where she lived and took care of the Herdade do Escatelar estate.

Painting has always been her escape and a way of finding herself. Self-taught, she has been painting since childhood, starting with oils in 2000.

She has participated in several collective exhibitions since 2001, and since 2003 began organizing collective exhibitions at the Canha Ethnographic Museum, where she also exhibited with other artists. Cristina has works on canvas and furniture in the Nursing Home, Pharmacy, and Town Council of Canha, as well as other private collections.

In 2013, she moved to Germany, where she exhibited for the first time in 2014 in Güls (Koblenz).

Since then, she has been culturally involved with local German groups (Kehrig Summt in 2020-2021, the “Elastics Housewives” Carnival group), and with the organization CIRCULODEMAJALIS in Portugal, having recently created illustrations of local birds for the publication of a book on the Canha region, exhibiting these works in 2024 (Canha) and 2025 (Montijo). She is a founding member of the CIRCULODEMAJALIS group, having been involved in the organization of the 1st Medieval Fair in the village of Canha (July 2025).

She was invited to exhibit in Kehrig on the occasion of the village’s 925th anniversary, in a collective exhibition with other local artists.

She has some works on social media and on her website.
